we have a nasty problem with a C450i.
Machine displays Toner black low, the print in black toner is pale
but the hopper box black is full with toner. If you run the machine for
a while "Replace Toner Black will appear" but the Hopper box black ist still filled.
We've replaced the complete Hopper unit and the Developer Unit K, but no luck.
If the DV Box wasn't driven, the rubber nozzle which is attached to the hopper unit
should be full with toner after a while,I guess, which isn't the case.
i-series and 8-series have a problem with toner bottle detection, the sensor is deformed and does not recognize the cartridge. That would be the first thing I would check.
Check-clean PS31 toner empty K sensor. The sensor is located behind the front inter-covers.
For sensor location see Page 13 of Parts Manual.

There has been a problem even with brand new toner hoppers on the i-series. see attached for what and how to check even brand new replacement hoppers before installing

Thank you very much.
My colleague checked it all, but it wasn't the problem either.
Next step will be changing the board where the hopper unit and the DV Boxes are connected to.
hello?
Long time no see.
Thank you to those who always help.
I will also help with one sentence.
If the developer level exceeds 6 in Service Mode - Body Check - Level Data 1, toner is not supplied.
Even if the output is blurry, the toner supply clutch does not move if the level value exceeds 6.
The cause is that the developer of the development tank is consumed.
This is also because the developer is included in the toner bottle along with the toner.
1. Exchange a new developing tank
2. Check if the standard capacity is correct using an electronic scale.

Thank you.
Was the dv unit you used new or used?
Check percentage in Level History, 6% to 8% is ok. If you replaced the dv unit with a used one from a known good machine, it doesn't do what you need and won't reset the tcr values, as the chip was already used once.
