New release of Firmware for the Konica Minolta Bizhub C258 - C658 Series.
Not many issues with the 8 series. I guess this F/W would help if you are having a specific issue that this will fix but I've learned over the years to leave well enough alone! Most of my "8" series have X4 F/W installed and working just fine.
Don't update for no reason. Just my humble opinion.

We recommend keeping any printer on the latest firmware, this is good practice.
(1) It will prevent future issues, we call this preventative maintenance
(2) If when you do need to update to resolve an issue you may run into problems updating from an old firmware to the latest. (common with the 4e series)
(3) Microsoft 0Auth for scanning will be needed next year, old firmware versions do not support this essential protocol.

I disagree it's preventive maint. Again if an issue arises like needed for MS auth, etc then update at that point.
Really depends on the environment. I update FW on machines that use specialty applications or services (i.e. cloud scanning/storage, remote printing, account track). The whole logic behind the FW maintenance release is to confirm drivers, equipment, and services are in sync. So it really just depends on each scenario. I have a customer that has 2 C550i's just for copy and scan, those I dont worry about, but also have 3 C360i's that print all day and use account track, they also cycle interns out constantly, newer FW provides benefits in this scenario.
In my opinion, unless you need a security patch included in the new version or a feature, don't update it. If you use the universal V3 drivers, they are pretty ubiquitous across function and firmware versions.
That being said, we ran YE through our using testing process (we trial run firmware before deployment to customers) and have started deploying it to the machines in the field.
Worked in IT for 12 years from Helpdesk up to System Administrator. Now working as the IT Manager at a copier company for the last 5 years.
Personally i used to update every single copier i had to refurbish, but eventually after the ultra-rare case of encountering trouble i stopped, cause the time wasted to fix the problem / return to old firmware / headache, was not worth it.
