We have a Xerox Altalink B8170 and a c8155 that on power up it shows Enter Current Password.

Steps tried.

* Replace SSD ( Still same - This has been done 3X now to rule out them )
* We have Special altboots, usb does not light up on any ports.
on the SBC there are some jumper locations like bios jumper , IIT CCS Jumper, and others just label's J10 - to J40 all over and some header connections.

Any ideas?

I¡¯m working on a Xerox 700 that suffered water damage. I¡¯ve already completed a thorough inspection and testing of the power supply unit and the MCU PWB board (960K47402K001). No visible component damage or burn marks were found, and multimeter tests show continuity and stable voltage across key points.

The board receives power and shows electrical pulse activity. On the control panel, three LED indicators flicker, but the machine does not boot or initialize. No fault codes are displayed, and the screen remains blank.

I¡¯ve also checked:
  • Multimeter continuity between P425 and P404 (signal path confirmed)
  • EEPROM chip presence and response (planning to test with EECLIP programmer)
  • No signs of short circuits or overheating

Before I proceed with EEPROM firmware recovery, I¡¯d appreciate any insights:
  • Could this be a firmware lockup or corrupted EEPROM?
  • Are the flickering LEDs on the panel indicative of a specific fault state?
  • Has anyone successfully recovered a Xerox 700 board post-water damage?

Any guidance, firmware references, or diagnostic tips would be greatly appreciated.

I have Altalink C8030 and tried update software from 100 to 103 using software upgrade utility tool however it was unsuccessful and software update fail message occurs on the screen. I tried to load recovery patch but I could not because after click on yellow triangle I did not see any option to add the recovery patch. Printer lost network connection with tool and it was not possible to perform recovery as per manual. I have to turn the machine off. After turning it on it stays on Xerox logo with code 6 on segment display. I have checked leds status and all looks fine D10 on D7on networks leds on and heartbeat as normal.
The next step seems to be reload software but according to the manual the only option is to altboot. Can you please provide the correct firmware file which I need to restore the software please or suggest another solution if you got something in mind please?

I used to be registered here years ago but couldn¡¯t recover my old account, so I re-registered today.

I haven¡¯t worked on printers in quite a while (I¡¯ve been in the PC hardware business for years), but I recently pulled a 7835i out of storage that I picked up cheaply at an auction two years ago. I finally got around to fixing it.

The SD card was dead, which I managed to recover thanks to tips from this forum¡ªso thank you! However, I¡¯m still facing two issues:
  1. Finisher stall / paper stall

    I have the standard office finisher HFN-2 attached; it¡¯s recognized and shows up on the info page.
    As soon as a print exits the fuser, the sheet stops/gets stuck at the same position every time.
    If I disconnect the finisher and use the standard top exit tray, everything works flawlessly.
    I don¡¯t see anything obviously wrong mechanically (photos attached in case they help).
  2. Cyan streaks at the bottom of the page
    I¡¯m consistently getting cyan streaks along the bottom of the print.

Additional info:
? All replaceable units report plenty of life left (just over 20%-30% total usage on each).
? Total page count is ~147,000.
? The machine detects the finisher correctly.
? Environment is clean; paper is fresh (plain 80gsm)

Could someone point me toward likely causes or diagnostics for:
? The finisher feed/transport stopping the sheet right after the fuser, and
? The cyan streaking (e.g., drum/developer/transfer components, cleaning blade, or fuser-related)?

Pulled the paper tray, shoved a piece of paper in the sensor on the right side front, did the diagnostic, sensor switched
from 0 to 1 no issue. Put the tray back in, pulled it out, switched to 1, shoved it back in, switched to 0. Pulled it out again, SLOWLY put it back
in and it did NOT switch.
When we set up small box machine, we have a small roll around cart to set them up, its all metal and apparently, someone banged into it
or set something REALLY heavy on it. The top had a slight dent in it. And when I looked at the flag sensor on the paper tray, it was slightly
BENT down. Heated it up a bit, straightened it out and hit it with and upside down can of dust off. Now it's perfectly level and works like
a champ.
